Workshop on Sequence Design and Its Applications in Communications and Cryptography |
|
Sequence design has been a traditional subject in the area of mathematics and information theory since mid twentieth century. The field derives its strength from rich traditions of theoretical mathematics and applications to communications. Over the last thirty years, the field has also been applied to cryptographyCurrently, stream ciphers form the major component of eStream, an European Community research project. In the late 1980s, sequence designers started to use Galois Rings which led to new families of sequences with good correlation and randomness properties, which have been subsequently adopted into 3G standards and led to renewed research efforts in sequences for wireless communications. The main objective of this workshop is to bring together these two approaches to sequence design in order to benefit Australian researchers and students in both of these exciting areas. Invited talks will be given by some of the most prominent researchers in this exciting field.
