Positions Open:

Seven (7) positions are available - Six (6) research scientists & One (1) project executive manager

The appointees are expected to contribute to the research activities of the research consortium in the specialist areas of GPS/GNSS, geodesy/surveying, data assimilation/numerical weather prediction modelling, precise orbit determination, debris tracking and surveillance, modelling space weather and forecasting space weather events, GNSS meteorology and atmosphere science. The successful applicants are expected to lead, undertake and participate in dayto- day operation of the research work, including management of the research projects, documentation and reporting, software and algorithm developments, and carrying out field experiments when appropriate. Excellent communication skills including inter-personal and English language (both in written and oral forms) are required. More detail...

The following Position Details are still in draft and will be finalized shortly.

Position 1: high precision GPS/GNSS, geodesy and surveying in general (positioning algorithms, ambiguity resolution / RTK / PPP, atmospheric modeling) (tenure-track position).

Position 2: Applied Mathematics (spatial analysis, modelling of debris environment, optimisation) (this appointment is made in conjunction with EOSSS) (Australian citizenship is required).

Position 3: Space tracking, real-time POD, atmospheric density modelling, PPP and satellite laser ranging SLR (this appointment is made in conjunction with EOSSS).

Position 4: GNSS atmospheric remote sensing (GNSS radio occulation and quality control, ray tracing, ionospheric drift/gradient and atmospheric winds etc.).

Position 5: Space weather events (e.g. solar flares, sun spot activity and x-ray bursts etc.) on GNSS positioning and timing, SBAS and atmospheric remote sensing, GNSS radio occultation and interpretation, prediction and validation of space weather effects (this appointment is made in conjunction with GSA).

Position 6: Weather and climate (GNSS meteorology, multi-sensor satellite remote sensing / data assimilation, NWP, climatic hazards) (this appointment is made in conjunction with BoM).

Position 7: Executive manager of the SPAN Centre (assist the SPAN director, coordinate, promote and manage SPAN activities, identify new opportunities, monitor progress and prepare for reports)

Two further new positions are expected to be available by early 2011.
